Radiology Technologist

LOCATION: 

  • Germantown Surgery Center, 2100 Exeter Road, Suite 100, Germantown, TN 38138

 

HOURS:

  • 4-day/10 hour shift – 6:30am-5:00pm
 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Radiology Technologist (R.T), under minimum supervision, performs a variety of duties in the department as a member of the surgical team. The R.T. performs x-ray procedures in the operating room and special procedure rooms. The R.T. is responsible for the processing of any x-rays and for maintaining and documenting equipment in proper calibration. May assist in the opening of the supplies/equipment for surgical and special procedure cases. Assist in the preparation for the next day cases

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  •  Graduate of an accredited training program. 

REQUIRED LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:

  • Radiology Technologist Certification and Radiology Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit required.
  • Current CPR licensure.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Assembles necessary supplies and positioning aids for scheduled procedures according to the physician’s preference card.
  • Tests and monitors equipment for proper working condition.
  • Confirms that all persons in the room are properly shielded before activating x-ray.
  • Follow principles of aseptic technique during the procedure.
  • Remains available during the procedure to provide timely response to surgeon or patient needs.
  • Follows State and Federal guidelines and manufacturer’s specifications when performing x-ray procedures
  • Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide availability and safety.
  • Assist with inventory control and stocking of supplies.
  • Ensures proper documentation of radiation exposure in the patient’s medical record.
  • Assists in surgery suite maintenance including case preparation, turn-over, and terminal cleaning. Follows AORN Recommended Practices and Center policy.
  • Assists visitors, staff and physicians, utilizing good guest relations.
  • 12. Acts as a resource person to other members of the staff.
  • Adheres to all infection control policies including OSHA guidelines for Universal Precautions for exposure to blood and body fluids, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and sharps handling.
  • Assists in orientation of new personnel, students, and approved program participants by explaining and demonstrating techniques and methods used in Center units and answering questions appropriately.
  • Participates in the Quality Improvement Program activities including identification of aspects of care, collection and analysis of data, formulation of recommendations, implementation of an improvement plan and evaluation of the process.
  • Attends staff meetings and educational opportunities.
  • Prioritizes job responsibilities to facilitate optimum patient care and utilization of resources.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in meeting the needs of the Center and the clinical units.
  • Maintains all required certifications. Performs effectively in an emergency situation.
  • Maintains strict patient and professional confidentiality.
