Dr. Giel is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He provides cutting-edge surgical techniques, including minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures. He also specializes in shoulder reconstruction, total shoulder replacement, ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration and meniscal transplantation of the knee.
As an associate master instructor at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago, he trains other surgeons in modern practices and minimally invasive techniques. He is the team physician for the Memphis Grizzlies.
In his spare time, Dr. Giel enjoys spending time with his family. This includes watching his son play sports and attending as many Memphis Grizzlies games as possible. He also enjoys community outreach and seeks involvement through his church and the Boy Scouts of America. He also endeavors to serve the community through sports-related partnerships such as Memphis Youth Athletics, Memphis Athletic Ministries, Streets Ministries, Girls on the Run and Memphis Rugby.
