Dr. Murrell is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, and specializes in the field of orthopaedic spine surgery treating disorders of the cervical thoracic and lumbar spine. Dr. Murrell incorporates a multidisciplinary approach to spine care. He uses his surgical expertise to craft a safe and effective plan for each patient. Many of his patients benefit from non-operative conservative care and less-invasive surgical approaches. When more complex surgery is required, he is skilled and experienced with complex spinal reconstruction. Dr. Murrell currently serves as the Governor’s appointed medical representative to the Tennessee Worker’s Compensation Advisory Council. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery Board of Councilors. Dr. Murrell is a past President of the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society.
A former varsity oarsman at Harvard, Dr. Murrell enjoys working with student athletes as team physician at St. Agnes and St. Dominic. Dr. Murrell also believes in the importance of giving back to his community and donates his surgical skills to the Church Health Center. He is a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
