OrthoSouth’s Germantown Surgery Center Named One of “America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers” by Newsweek
October 28, 2020 Memphis, TN – OrthoSouth’s Germantown Surgery Center has been named one of “America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers,” ranking in the top 2% out of more than 4,300 surgery centers across the United States according to Newsweek and its data partner, the global research firm Statista.
Newsweek selected the country’s best surgery centers by utilizing their experts and survey-participants to assess quality of care, various performance data, and peer recommendations. They also considered how well facilities were responding to COVID-19.
Additional information taken into account included data from U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Ambulatory Surgical Center Quality Reporting (ASCQR) Program which provides Key Performance Indicator data for ambulatory surgery centers. This data included ASC safety benchmarks such as burn prevention data, fall prevention data, and hospital transfer data at each location.
OrthoSouth’s Germantown Surgery Center is one of the practice’s two ASCs. Surgeons utilize the center for orthopedic, spine, and pain management procedures, which range from total joint replacement surgery to minimally invasive spine injections.
“We’re honored to have made the list,” stated OrthoSouth’s Director of ASC Operations, Bert Parnell. “To be selected amongst the top 2% of Surgery Centers in the country based on our patient satisfaction and quality outcomes is a testament to our staff and physicians’ commitment to providing the highest quality care to our patients. To have their hard work and dedication acknowledged on a national scale in such good company is a wonderful achievement.”
The national recognition further underscores OrthoSouth’s commitment to provide exceptional, personalized service to its patients while at the same time providing world-class orthopedic care.
Especially during the pandemic, outpatient surgery centers are playing a significant role in providing patients who need surgery with an alternative, lower cost option to the traditional hospital setting allowing them to return home same day from surgery without having to spend time in the hospital. OrthoSouth surgery centers have continued Covid-19 safety measures initially implemented in the Spring and Summer, which include testing all patients for Covid-19 ahead of surgery, randomized weekly testing of on-site personnel, daily temperature checks and health screenings among other safety procedures.
