OrthoSouth Introduces Robot-Assisted Total Knee Replacement to DeSoto County

December 14, 2021

SOUTHAVEN, MS – OrthoSouth surgeon Andrew Wodowski, MD completed DeSoto County’s first robotics-assisted total knee replacement on Thursday, December 9th at the OrthoSouth Surgery Center in Southaven, using the center’s new CORI robotic system.

OrthoSouth is the only center in DeSoto County offering robotics-assisted knee replacement, and further, in an exclusively outpatient setting. The addition of the new high-tech option for same-day knee replacement officially adds one more layer of convenience for thousands of people in North Mississippi who could potentially benefit from a knee replacement surgery.

“We have offered the ‘same day’ outpatient knee replacement option at our Southaven Surgery Center for several years,” said Dr. Wodowski. “With the addition of the CORI system at our Southaven surgery center, we’re now able to blend two unique experiences into one, offering patients the benefits of both robotic-assisted surgery and outpatient knee replacement at the same time.”

OrthoSouth now offers robotics-assisted knee replacement surgery at both outpatient surgery centers, in Germantown, TN and Southaven, MS. Learn more about the CORI Robotics-assisted knee replacement, and other options available with OrthoSouth’s talent-rich team of providers, at orthosouth.org.
