Surgery Scheduler

LOCATION:  Briarcrest Office | 6286 Briarcrest Ave. #200 | Memphis, TN 38120

Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgery Scheduler to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently. This position requires strong communication skills, familiarity with medical terminology, and proficiency in various electronic health record systems.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • One year of work experience, preferably in a medical environment.
  • Excellent verbal, communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • Proven experience in a medical office setting or similar role and prior knowledge of insurance plans, patient registration, pre-certification, and surgery scheduling is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of medical records management and medical coding practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Understanding of clinic operations and the ability to navigate complex scheduling scenarios.

Responsibilities:

  • Competently and accurately obtains, verifies, and records patient information.
  • Communicates effectively with providers, peers, patients, family members, vendors, insurance companies, and surgery departments regarding patient care.
  • Utilize electronic health record systems to manage scheduling and patient information.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure all required medical coding and insurance authorizations are obtained prior to surgery.
  • Follows all scheduling and pre-certification processes to schedule surgical procedures and injections with multiple facilities for multiple providers.
  • Verifies and coordinates insurance eligibility, obtains authorization for scheduled procedures and communicates information to facilities and patients.
  • Verifies and documents approvals, faxes, and routes information as appropriate.
  • Quickly and efficiently responds to patient and facility inquires and requests.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisor or physician.
