August 17, Memphis, TN – The Mid-South’s most accessible orthopedic practice, OrthoSouth, proudly announces its newest subspecialist orthopedic surgeon, Dr. William A. Hester, III. Dr. Hester will see patients at the group’s Briarcrest Avenue clinic starting August 17th, his service representing a significant expansion of OrthoSouth’s foot and ankle capabilities. Dr. Hester joins the large Mid-South practice fresh off a yearlong fellowship with the prestigious Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Philadelphia, PA, where he focused on advanced techniques in foot and ankle surgery. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Hester completed his residency with Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. He graduated with his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Tennessee Health and Science Center in Memphis and earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. “I’m honored to join OrthoSouth as a surgeon and feel very fortunate to be able to offer my specialized set of skills and knowledge to patients in my hometown community,” said Dr. Hester. “This is a full circle moment of sorts, having started my medical career in Memphis as a medical student and then returning as a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon after years of advanced study. It feels good to be home.” Home, he is. Dr. Hester spent his high school years assisting OrthoSouth physician Dr. Timothy Krahn with high school athletes in the training room at Christian Brothers High School. He later worked as a medical assistant at OrthoMemphis (now OrthoSouth) prior to attending medical school. His return as a physician marks another moment of celebration for the orthopedic practice just over a year after undergoing a massive merger and rebranding to become the second largest and most expansive orthopedic group in the Mid-South area. Dr. Timothy Krahn, onetime mentor for Dr. Hester, is proud to have him onboard as a partner at OrthoSouth. “I’ve watched his growth and maturity from those early days up to this point and could not be prouder to call him a partner in our group. In addition to his intelligence and work ethic, Dr. Hester is also a very personable guy.
