OrthoSouth Brings Its Renowned Athletic Training Program to Harding Academy

Experienced Certified Athletic Trainer Jennifer Dorman offers injury prevention, sports medicine expertise to Harding’s Student Athletes

July 27, Memphis, TN – OrthoSouth has a legacy of providing stellar athletic training services to public and private schools and organizations across the Mid-South. The Memphis-based orthopedic group is proud to announce that it will be continuing this tradition with its newest partner, Harding Academy.

OrthoSouth’s Jennifer Dorman is set to take on the role of Harding’s dedicated Head Athletic Trainer starting in July. Dorman has been with the OrthoSouth team since 2013 and has worked with Overton High School, Evangelical Christian School, and Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School. During her tenure at each of these schools, she has been involved with a range of sports and athletic activities.

“Jennifer is an excellent choice for the role of Head AT at Harding,” stated OrthoSouth Director of Sports Medicine Outreach, Marty Scruggs. “She brings a broad skillset to the board, including advanced specialized training, an enthusiastic approach to team sports, and a community-oriented spirit. Her student athletes are in great hands.”

Dorman brings extensive expertise to her role. She is a Corrective Exercise Specialist with the ability to correct improper form and technique to help athletes prevent injury. She also develops exercise programs for athletes returning from injury by targeting specific muscles to improve their strength and flexibility, which are the keys to returning an athlete back to the field of play. Additionally, Dorman is an ImPACT Trained Athletic Trainer with special instruction in the interpretation of baseline and post-concussion assessment of concussed athletes. In addition to her daily role, Dorman is also the West Tennessee representative for the Tennessee Athletic Trainers Society Communication Committee.

Dorman’s expertise will be especially beneficial to Harding Academy’s Athletic Performance program—a program designed to help students across all grades reach their athletic potential.

Harding Academy Athletic Director Greg Eubanks, said, “We’re excited to partner with OrthoSouth to ensure our student athletes are training and playing in the safest environment possible, with a qualified medical professional guiding their workouts and on hand to triage and treat any suspected injuries during their games.”

OrthSouth currently supports student athletes with 20 Certified Athletic Trainers at 16 schools across the Mid-South. Athletic Trainers at these schools offer prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports related medical conditions in collaboration with the group’s physicians and other medical providers.
