OrthoSouth Welcomes New Back & Neck Specialist, Winfred B. Abrams, Jr., MD to Largest Multidisciplinary Team of Orthopedic Spine Specialists in the Mid-South Region

October 5, 2020, Memphis, TN – OrthoSouth welcomes interventional spine specialist Dr. Winfred B. Abrams, Jr. to its Spine Center team this month.  Dr. Abrams will see patients with back and neck pain at the group’s Briarcrest Avenue clinic and Southaven, MS clinic. His addition underscores the continued growth of OrthoSouth’s presence in West Tennessee and North Mississippi.  

Dr. Abrams is a fellowship trained interventional spine specialist. He completed his fellowship in Pain Medicine at Hershey S. Milton Medical Center, PennState Health in Hershey, PA and his surgical residency at Boonshoft School of Medicine, Wright State University-Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. He is a graduate of UT Health Science Center in Memphis. Dr. Abrams received his B.S. in Chemistry from University of Pittsburgh. He gained much of his medical training in the military, where he served as a Flight Surgeon, Medical Director, and Operational Support Medicine Commander for several years before joining the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as a staff physician for a few years prior to his fellowship.  

In addition to regular clinic hours, Dr. Abrams joins a team that also offers a 24/7 OrthoStat Urgent Care triage line. Between the hours of 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., and all weekend long, an OrthoStat physician is always available to offer guidance and telephonic triage for urgent orthopedic injuries, often helping patients avoid a long wait at the ER for similar instruction.
