  • As necessary: On-site at all clinics and surgery centers. 

HOURS:

  • Fulltime: Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm

 


 

Job Overview/Summary:

The HIMS Specialist will be responsible for performing a wide variety of administrative duties in support of patient services across multiple sites, departments, and systems. Additionally, this position will be responsible for implementing new HIMS activities and will provide the needed technical support and regular feedback for projects. Healthcare experience is a plus, but not required.

The HIMS Department works closely with all departments across OrthoSouth and is vital in managing a vast array of systems/projects across the organization, including, but not limited to, Practice Management system (Athena), EHR (Modernizing Medicine/ EMA), PT EHR (WebPT), Scheduling System (Dash). This position has daily involvement with project updates, new initiatives, requirements gathering, and training of new features.

Major Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director of HIMS, the HIMS Specialist is responsible for support in the development, strengthening, and quality of health programs’ data collection through: ·Assists with the development of workflows for use in clinical systems to strengthen compliance, auditing, data collection, and ease of use Develops necessary clinical system documentation

  • Provides in-service and other forms of end-user training; onboarding and continuing education
  • Analyzes clinical system workflows and identifies improvement areas
  • Proposes and creates innovative and appropriate data solutions (dashboards, reports, etc) for department initiatives
  • Troubleshoots clinical system related issues brought up by physicians, clinical staff, and billing team members
  • Works directly with external vendors, gathering updates on current product enhancements and requesting future product enhancements as outlined by leadership
  • Supports internal and external customers by providing them with necessary information in a timely manner
  • Maintains a high level of interaction with all clinical areas to continually enhance and improve patient care
  • Ad Hoc reporting for special projects
  • Submits semi-monthly reporting of physician unbilled office visits to the executive team
  • Submits daily patient survey file
  • Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties including but not limited to word processing, copying, filing, and data entry
  • Creates new user profiles in clinical systems
  • Stays current with technology through seminars, educational opportunities, and healthcare technology blogs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Healthcare Administration, or any related field
  • Proven work experience with electronic medical records preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in data analysis and/or project management
  • Problem solving, analysis skills
  • Strong understanding of VBA Macros in Excel
  • Power BI knowledge a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills, including attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong sense of personal integrity and understanding of confidentiality and ethics
  • Self-directed, able to independently set priorities and solve problems with minimal guidance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

 

-Local travel between clinic locations will require a personal vehicle
