Clinical Systems Manager

HOURS: Monday – Friday

OVERVIEW: The Clinical Systems Manager will support patient services across multiple sites, departments, and systems.
This position will be responsible for implementing new Health Information systems and workflows to
support the patient experience, user experience, and organizational data capture initiatives. The Clinical
Systems Manger is a product expert in all of OrthoSouth’s systems and will work closely with all
departments to determine better use of current systems through internal workflow changes and external
vendor enhancement requests.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Project Management, Healthcare Computer
    Science, or any related field. Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare System
    Administration preferred.
  • Proven work experience with electronic medical records and healthcare clinical systems
  • At least 5 years of experience in data analysis and/or project management
  • At least 2 years experience in a Clinical System leadership role
  • Willingness to learn all systems at OrthoSouth
  • Team player with an analytical mind, strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong sense of personal integrity and understanding of confidentiality and ethics
  • Self-directed, able to independently set priorities and solve problems with minimal guidance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Local travel between clinic locations will require a personal vehicle

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as liaison between clinical personnel, vendors and the IT department to solve system problems
  • Analyzes problems, determines causes and initiates corrective action
  • Maintains a high level of interaction with all clinical areas to continually enhance and improve
    patient care
  • Provides physician and clinical staff support and training, both on-site and remotely
  • Reviews, evaluates and implements requests from user departments and executive team
  • Works directly with external vendors, gathering updates on current product enhancements and
    requesting future product enhancements as outlined by leadership
  • Proposes and creates innovative and appropriate data solutions (dashboards, reports, etc) for
    department initiatives
  • Develop necessary clinical system documentation, including, user manuals, operating instructions,
    information standards, system integration triggers, confidentiality standards, policies, and
    procedures
  • Maintains a high level of interaction with all clinical areas to continually enhance and improve
    patient care
  • Ensure system use, data input, and retrieval policies and procedures are followed
  • The Clinical Systems Manager oversees and participates in testing and implementing vendor
    updates to clinical software
  • Reports project updates to relevant teams, committees, and user departments.
  • Develops and continually update workflows associated with MIPS data capture initiatives
  • Determines and Educates a Super User Team for clinical systems to assist with training initiatives
  • Audits HIPAA related records and policies
  • Stays current with technology through seminars, educational opportunities, and healthcare
    technology blogs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
